I’m Kellen. In the day time I work at a public library in Ohio. At nights I work on designing board games. Cork Board Games is the home for my board game designs and ideas. I started this site as a way to keep track of the games I’m working on, as well as to have one central location that people can come and check out what’s going on with their development and sign up for play tests whenever they’re ready. I’m also sprinkle in some game reviews and thoughts on board games in general as they come to me.
I designed my first game when I was around kindergarten age where the rules were so loose that I always seemed to win. Flash forward a couple of decades and I’m now designing games with more serious goals, broader sense of scope, and games where I don’t always win.
In early 2016, I began work on a game that would become Astroventure, a game about private aerospace companies which would be my first real promising design. After showing it to a few people at Origins, I became convinced that this was definitely a design worth exploring. Since then I’ve taken it to several other events including UnPub 7 where I’ve received valuable feedback and ideas to make the game even better.
From there ideas have been rolling in and prototypes are being built. New games are coming regularly to mind and as they get to the table and begin the process of development, I’ll be sure to publish posts to the blog here about them so you can follow along.
To stay up to date with the site, follow along on Twitter or Facebook. I also have a personal Twitter account if you want to follow me there for things other than just board game design. I’m also on BoardGameGeek. Feel free to send me a message there and say hi.
